When I think about suicide, which I do more than I probably should, art doesn’t come to mind.
My mother-in-law and I recently visited the Rainflower Project at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This art installation was created to honor people who have been affected by suicide, remember people who have died by suicide and acknowledge the survivors of suicide. Artist Damien Wolf created 675 yellow, black and white ceramic flowers to represent the average number of people who die by suicide each year in Minnesota. Visitors are invited to write on a green tag in honor of a loved one.
Just look at all those ceramic flowers. One of them represents my son.
